ACCESSIBILITY

facilities-12

NUsport is committed to supporting members and the community from all walks of life with ability and determination by providing facilities that promotes and advocates for positive physical and mental health.

Accessibility and equity are strategic priorities of NUsport, underpinned by the University of Newcastle’s leadership in inclusion.

Everything we do involves wide consultation with our accessible community; review and improvement of current policies, practices, systems and infrastructure; and building confidence and capacity for staff to deliver programs inclusively.

The newly refurbished aquatic facility has been modified to accommodate all abilities enabling us to be the premier destination for accessibility.

This includes the existing structure to have a disabled ramp and accessible changerooms and installation of a new elevator with improved accessibility.

GIVING BACK

NUsport through The Forum is proud to play an active role in helping to raise awareness and funds that support local charities, schools, sporting and surf clubs.

Each year The Forum provides use of its facilities as well as donates prizes to assist community-based organisations in their fundraising endeavours.

This support is valued at more than $50,000 each year - a contribution that we are proud of. If you would like to be considered for a donation or in-kind support, click here for more information.

Newcastle's ourdoor spin bike team challenge
Together with Variety the Children’s Charity NSW/ACT branch, The Forum has proudly sponsored the event as an enabling partner for the past five year – providing the use of our stationary bikes for a great cause.

2021 was a huge success with over $70,000 raised in total by everyone involved. Participants were riding both on location at The Station, Newcastle East or virtually from their workplace by zoom.

If you would like to participate in the next Spin 4 Kids, keep your eye out for more information.
