Member Relations Consultant

Newcastle University Sport has permanent and casual opportunities available for enthusiastic, engaging, people focused individuals to join the team as Member Relations Consultants.

While experience in the health and fitness industry would be favourable this would also be an ideal opportunity for those with a positive attitude and solid background in retail, sales, hospitality, tourism or customer service roles.

This is a pivotal role in ensuring all members and guests receive first class customer service. As a Member Relations Consultant, your typical day will involve:

  • Welcoming members and guests into our world class facilities
  • Providing a solution’s based supportive environment for all members and guests
  • Acting as the first port of call for enquiries, both in person and via phone or email.

Our current opportunity is for a range of weekly hours made of a mixture of mornings, evenings and weekend work across The Forum’s operating hours.

Essential Selection Criteria;

  • A positive personality.
  • Excellent customer engagement skills.
  • Adaptability and multi-tasking skills.
  • Previous experience in a customer facing position, ideally in the recreation and fitness industry.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Close attention to detail.
  • Previous sales experience.
  • Current Senior First Aid and CPR Certificate.
  • COVID-19 Infection Control Training.

Learn to Swim Instructor

As of 12 October 2020 The Forum’s Learn to Swim program will be held out of Lambton Swimming Pool while The Forum Aquatic Centre undergoes refurbishment works.

We are currently looking for Learn to Swim Instructors to join our team on a casual fixed term basis (3 October 2020 – 20 December 2020) with a potential for continued casual employment beyond that period.

These Casual opportunities are available for experienced Learn to Swim Instructors who are passionate about teaching children an invaluable life skill, to deliver our Learn to Swim program and our peak school sport program.

Successful candidates may be required to work shifts between the hours of 9.00am and 6.00pm weekdays and 8.00am to 11.00am Saturdays and Sundays. Shifts are projected to average 3 to 5 hours in the water teaching time.

To be successful in the role you will possess:

  • Demonstrated experience in an Instructing role
  • An ability to communicate with a wide range of people
  • AUSTSWIM – Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety (or equivalent)
  • Valid CPR & First Aid qualification
  • Current Working With Children Check (WWCC)
  • Experience in an aquatic facility environment
  • Exceptional teamwork skills.

Ideally (but not mandatory);

  • AUSTSWIM Certificates – INF, A&I, TCS and AD.
