We are celebrating The Forum Sports & Aquatic Centre turning 25 by opening up our facilities for FREE on Saturday 25 March between 8am and 1pm. The day will be jam-packed with programs, challenges and fun for the whole family.

FREE lap swimming. FREE gym access. FREE group fitness classes.

Gym Challenge ‘FASTEST 25’.  The fastest to 25 calories on the echo bike will win a 25 day membership.

Compete in the inaugural NUsport Fitness COMBINE.

COMBINE OVERALL FITNESS CHALLENGE

Take part in the inaugural NUsport COMBINE to test your fitness and celebrate our birthday!

Participants will gather outside, in front of Oval 2, at 9:50am to be briefed on health and safety and how the COMBINE will run.

Event Timing: Saturday 25 March at 10:00am - 11:30am

Event 1 - 10:00am (Gym) - Max Speed Sprint - Athletes will have one attempt to register a maximum speed on a Skillmill. The highest reading viewed by a judge on the Skillmill screen will be recorded.
 
Event 2 - 10:20am (Gym) - 1RM Trap Bar Deadlift - Athletes will record their heaviest successful trap bar deadlift. The trap bar must start from the floor at the beginning of the rep and athletes must stand tall with shoulders back and open hips.
 
Event 3 - 10:40am (Gym) - Max Repetition Bench Press - Athletes will have one attempt to perform as many repetitions as possible at ¾ bodyweight for males and ½ bodyweight for females. Shoulders and hips must maintain contact with the bench at all times. Elbows must lock at the top of each rep and descend below the shoulder blades to count as a completed repetition.
Event 4 - 11:00am (Oval 2) - Ball Toss for Distance - Athletes will stand behind the designated start line and toss a weighted ball overhead. Athletes will have 3 attempts to record their furthest lateral distance.
 
Event 5 - 11:20am (Oval 2) - 1.6km Run - Athletes will all run together around a designated track. All athletes will start behind the start line and must not cross until "start" has been called. Time will be recorded when the athlete crosses the finish line.
 
A BBQ will be held upon completion of Event 5!

Within the FREE Breath Exploration Workshop we will explore:

  • Breath techniques for improved endurance, strength and speed
  • Breathwork for recovery (getting you back to what you love faster)
  • Breath for focus and calmness
  • Breath to reduce stress and anxiety
  • Breath for emotional regulation
  • You will walk away with proven tools and techniques ready to apply to your life to create a better breath.
