Award categories include:
Blues
Blues may be awarded to students for excellence in sport when representing the University. Candidates must be enrolled students proceeding towards a degree or a diploma at the University of Newcastle and must demonstrate both sporting excellence and contribution to University sport.
Blues have been awarded by the University since 1955 and more recently have included sportspeople such as Heath Franics (athletics) and Margaret Watson (Rugby).
Former and current students of the University who are awarded a University Blue are eligible to join the University of Newcastle Blues Association. For more information Blues can contact info@theforum.org.au
Colours
Colours may be awarded to members of NUsport or Campus Central Clubs or Representative Team officials who have made an outstanding contribution to the organisation and administration of University sport over a period of at least three academic years.
Sports Person of the Year
Sports Person of the Year is awarded each year to the University student whose sporting achievements and sportsmanship during the previous academic year are deemed to have been the most outstanding. Excellence can be in any area of sporting endeavour including outstanding achievement in the areas of sports administration or officiating, eg. refereeing or managing/coaching at national level.
Sports Club of the Year
Sports Club of the Year recognises the attainment of high standards in sports administration by a University Sporting Club during the academic year.
