Qualifications in Fitness
NUsport and TAFE NSW – Hunter Institute have joined forces to fast-track your fitness career by offering nationally recognised training for personal trainers, gym instructors, group fitness and aqua instructors.
All courses are flexibly delivered and are based at The Forum, University.
All nationally accredited courses adhere to the guidelines of the Australian Qualification and Training Framework. In addition to these courses are the specific fitness education courses accredited by the Australian Fitness Council, recognised for continuing education credit.
Certificate III in Fitness
Designed for those who want to work or are currently working in the fitness industry, this course will develop your knowledge and skills in exercise program design and is the platform to move into personal training. It prepares you to work in any capacity on a fitness centre floor, covering design and implementation of safe and effective resistance training, aerobic conditioning and flexibility programs. You will also develop core competencies relating to client services; team development and project implementation; legal responsibilities and risk analysis.
Senior First Aid Certificate must be completed prior to course completion.

Certificate III in Fitness is the minimum qualification required to register as a fitness professional.
Certificate IV in Fitness
Designed for those already working in the fitness industry, this course equips you with advanced technical, planning and leadership skills to work independently as a personal trainer with challenging client groups. This course is available to anyone who has completed the Certificate III in Fitness or equivalent.
